Why Made You Ink?

In May 2025, the week a music mogul had his trial begin, we in the small but mighty Calligraphy community had our own shake up. A teacher, entrepreneur and community member shared a public post with wild and erroneous opinions. It was slightly agreed to by some but, ultimately and fiercely rejected by most who saw it. We commented on the inaccuracy, which were rebuffed and dismissed by the poster. What followed was the inability to handle the discourse, initiated by the poster, with grace. To double and triple down on archaic beliefs was mind boggling. Labeling one’s internalized sexism as possibly an aging prude, is beyond the pale.

All this to say, the post was removed and they “moved on” via stories. Really?! After all that, what do we now know? We know how this person really feels about us. We know she is a pick me. We know she is not a girl’s girl. We know where to spend our hard earned money. We know our community is “greater than the sum of its parts.” We are confident in the clothes we choose, assertive in our beliefs, encouraging to others, and more empowered. Our community came together quicker than calling the avengers to assemble, and this is how we stand on business. I stand on business by calling out the BS when I see it. No matter who it is. And, being a safe place for those hurt by the BS. Always!

This site was created in response to the wild accusations made in our community. Created to spite the awful behavior displayed by her. Created as an alternative to the platform she has. Created for better pay. More Equity. More Freedom. Flexibility in teaching. All the things lacking over there are better here.
